Reduced Parking Capacity at Belfast Central Station

26 September 2002

Translink wish to advise passengers of building works taking place in the car park at Belfast Central Station with effect from Monday 30 September 2002, which will temporarily reduce the parking capacity in the car park.

This period of works is anticipated to last from 30 September to January 2003.  Advance reservation of parking spaces will not be possible during this time.

Hilton Parr, Translink Central Station Manager, explained, “The improvements being made to the car park will ultimately increase the number of parking spaces available to over 200.  Automated pay stations will also be installed inside and outside the station, which will substantially reduce exit and entry times.  A new vehicle control system in the area will allow for easier flow of traffic and more clearly designated pick up and set down points.  In addition, a new lighting system will offer increased security for passengers.”

“On behalf of Translink I would apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused, and thank them for their continued support as we improve passenger facilities at Central Station.”

Passengers are advised to allow adequate time for their journey during this period of disruption.  Alternative parking facilities are available nearby at Ewart Carparks in Lanyon Place and at Donegall Quay Carpark beside Laganside BusCentre.
