Carrickfergus Station Works

28 October 2002

Translink wish to advise passengers of the commencement of renovation works to the subway at Carrickfergus Station.  A new subway canopy, staircase and lifts are to be installed, as well as a drainage system and CCTV.  The works represent a further investment of £850,000 in Carrickfergus Station, and are due to be completed in Spring 2003.

Translink controller in Carrick, Mr Frank Moore, explained, “This is the second stage of the restoration and modernisation work Translink have carried out at Carrick Station, and will further improve the already extensive passenger facilities available at the station.”

The subway will close from Thursday 7th November, and all passengers are advised to arrive and depart the station using the main entrance building in Victoria Street.  During this time there will be no access to/from the Sunnylands entrance.

Mr Moore continued, “In order to complete these works as quickly as possible, it will be necessary for the contractor to carry out some work at night.  I would apologise to passengers and the local community for any inconvenience this may cause, but would reassure you that we will work hard to keep any disruption to a minimum.”

Anyone with queries regarding this work can contact the Grahams site supervisor on 028 93 32 63 69 or Translink Project Manager on 028 90 35 40 75.
