New low-floor buses for Omagh

1 November 2006

Omagh is the recipient of three new, low-floor single deck buses which have been added to the fleet as part of Translink’s overall order of 110 new vehicles.

The modern new vehicles, representing an investment of almost £14million, form part of Translink’s drive to offer improved levels of service and quality for all passengers.

The new vehicles are fully accessible and feature enhanced heating systems, double-glazing, a manual ramp for wheelchair and pushchair access and a six-camera CCTV system for passenger and driver security. Branded with fresh new, light blue Ulsterbus livery, the vehicles will operate on urban and rural routes in the Omagh area.

Sean Falls, Translink District Manager for Omagh said:

“We are delighted to be able to provide these new vehicles for our customers in Omagh. We have already taken delivery of 215 new buses over the last year so these additional vehicles are great news for our passengers. Modern, quality buses really make a difference to any journey and the new vehicles also significantly reduce the average bus fleet age. In conjunction with ongoing changes and innovations within Ulsterbus operations they will play a key role in delivering the challenging growth targets set out in the Regional Transportation Strategy,” he said.

Ends.
