The Enterprise Service – Fares Revision
2 July 2004
Translink have announced that fares for the cross border Enterprise service, jointly operated with Irish Rail, will increase with effect from Monday 5th July 2004.
Ciaran Rogan Translink’s Marketing Executive explained; “Essentially as a transport operator we are affected by the annual increase in rail operating costs which is standard across the industry. However we have attempted to reduce the impact on our passengers by keeping the revision in line with our general fare increase of 5% announced back in April, which means that the most popular ticket types; the singles and returns, will increase by £1 or £2”.
“Our passengers have been able to benefit from the facilities of the new and improved Central Station and the refurbishment of the existing Enterprise carriages which we are pleased to say is well underway with over 50% of the work having been carried out.
“Naturally, this goes a long way to improving our passengers journey experience and explains why just over 86% of our passengers have reported having a relaxing journey during a recent independent customer satisfaction survey for 2004”.
Key findings for the latest set of punctuality and reliability results covering a 6 month period up to Sunday 27 June 2004 reveal that 99% of Enterprise services ran as planned, while 86% reached their destination within 10 minutes of the published timetable and we are confident that this improved performance will rise still further.
Mr Rogan concluded, “Translink is confident that the Enterprise offers passengers a unique, value for money service which is convenient, comfortable and a safe travel alternative, commuters can relax on board the train with good food and the opportunity to keep in touch with the office and work on lap tops.” .
