What is Metro?

Metro is Belfast’s bus service. It means:

• better services for more people
• improved reliability and frequency
• more seats
• new services
• a simplified network that’s easy to use and easy to understand. 

Metro Connects - City Hospital & Stormont

If you live in:

• Belvoir
• Ballybeen
• Tullycarnet
• Rathcoole or
• Monkstown

The Metro Network

The Metro Network has 12 high-frequency corridors along main arterial roads into Belfast City Centre with additional services operating throughout the Greater Belfast Area.

Some Ulsterbus services operating in the Greater Belfast area will set down and pick up on Metro corridors.  These services will be numbered 500-599 and generally serve the Metro network after 6.30 p.m. and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Metro Corridors

• Guaranteed high-frequency service. Buses running between a 5 to 10 minute frequency during the day over the core portion of the corridor.

• Enhanced Sunday services operating the same routes as weekday services.
  
• All services on the high frequency Metro corridors are operated by low floor vehicles.  70% of Metro buses allow unassisted wheelchair access.  Unfortunately, the driver is not able to leave his cab to assist you.
  
• Dedicated colour-coded timetables for each of the 12 corridors.

• Signal to the driver that you want to get on.  
  
• Always state your destination stop to the driver.
  
• Speed up boarding times by using the cash-free Smartlink Card.
  
• If paying in cash, exact money speeds your service.
  
• There is room for two buggies on board. Others must be folded away.
