War Disabled Entitlement

Persons under the age of 65 who receive a War Disabled pension and are also resident in Northern Ireland, can travel free of charge on any Translink bus or rail services within the province.  (Those who are 65 years and over are entitled to free travel).

War Disabled pension holders must apply for the new SmartPass in order to receive free travel.

An application form containing name and address details has been sent to all eligible pension holders on the War Pensions Agency database.  The pension holder should check that all details are correct, then simply sign the form and take it, along with a passport-sized photograph and your pension book, to your local bus or rail station.

If you do not have a war disablement pension book, you must bring a driving licence or a recent rent book, utilities (e.g. electricity or telephone) bill or bank or building society statement bearing your current address in Northern Ireland. Your details will then be processed and your new pass posted out directly within a few weeks.

If you do not receive an application form through the post and you are an eligible holder of a War Disablement pension, you can obtain one from Translink by contacting 028 9075 9129.

Current concession holders must re-apply.

You must present your new SmartPass to obtain free travel otherwise the full adult fare must be paid for your journey.

If you have already made an application but have not received your new SmartPass; please telephone 028 9074 5880.
