Terms and Conditions

The Ulsterbus Smartlink Multi-Journey Card has replaced 10 Journey and 40 Journey Ulsterbus tickets. The Multi-Journey Card can be loaded with journeys between specified stages and is available for both adults and children. Journeys will be the same price as 10 Journey and 40 Journey tickets previously available.

Use
1. Ulsterbus Smartlink Multi-Journey Cards can be used on all scheduled Ulsterbus services within Northern Ireland (Day Tours, Cross Border and
Special Services are excluded).
2. Multi Journey Cards are valid for travel between the two specified stages for which the card has been issued.
3. Cards can only be used for travel between the specified stages. The appropriate full fare will be charged for travel beyond the specified stage. If the card is used to travel a shorter distance no refund will be given.

Topping Up & Expiry Dates
4. Cards can be topped up with 10 journeys on board a bus or with 5, 10, 20 or 40 journeys at Ulsterbus stations, Smartlink Agents and the Metro kiosk, Donegall Square West.
5. Cards can be topped up with 40 journeys at a time and can store a maximum of 50 journeys.
6. If a Smartlink top up is purchased in error at an Ulsterbus station, Smartlink agent, the Metro kiosk or on board a bus the transaction can be cancelled only if this is done before a further transaction has been processed on the ticket machine.
7. Journeys will be valid for three months from the date they are added to the card. Each time a card is topped up all valid unused journeys will have their validity extended for a further three months.
8. Any journeys not used within threemonths of a top up will expire. Expired journeys are removed fromthe card and are non-refundable.
9. Ulsterbus Smartlink Multi-Journey Cards cannot be loaded with other Smartlink travel products e.g. Metro Smartlink Travel Card.

General
10. Ulsterbus Multi-Journey Cards are subject to the Company’s operating terms and conditions.
11. Cards remain the property of Translink. If lost cards are found they should be returned to: Smartlink Office, Translink, 3 Milewater Road, Belfast, BT3 9BG.
12. Cards and corresponding journey receipts must be retained by the passenger until the journey is complete. These must be presented if requested by authorised Translink personnel.
13. Once the validity of a Card has expired it cannot be used for travel until topped up. Expired cards presented for travel will not be accepted and the appropriate full fare will be charged.
14. Multi Journey Cards are transferable and can be passed to someone else wishing to travel at a different time between the same specified stages. They can also be used by two or more people travelling together on the
same service between the same specified stages provided there are sufficient journeys stored on the card.

Refunds
15. Smartlink Card holders may apply for a refund of the journeys remaining on the card if it is no longer required. Refund claims must be received before the expiry date of the card. The refund is calculated from the date the card is received for refund by reimbursing unused journeys at the Smartlink journey price. An administration fee of 20% of the value remaining on the card will be deducted. The initial cost of the Smartlink Card will NOT be refunded.
16. To apply for a refund the card holder should post the Multi-Journey Card to: Refunds, Smartlink Office, Translink, 3 Milewater Road, Belfast, BT3 9BG.
17. If a card is faulty and the ticket machine is unable to read the information stored on the card the appropriate full fare will be charged by the driver. The card should be returned to the address above. A cheque refund will be issued for the unused journeys at the Smartlink journey price plus the initial cost of the Smartlink Card. No administration fee will be charged. The card holder will be required to purchase a new card.
18. If a card is damaged and the ticket machine is unable to read the information stored on the card the appropriate full fare will be charged by the driver. The card should be returned to the address above. A cheque refund will be issued for the unused journeys at the Smartlink journey price. An administration fee of 20% of the value remaining on the card will be deducted. The initial cost of the Smartlink Card will NOT be refunded.
19. If a Smartlink Card is lost or stolen the card holder should phone the Smartlink Office on 028 90 759129 during office hours to cancel or ‘hotlist’ their card. The Smartlink Card number is required to do this. The Smartlink Card number is printed across the front of the card and is also printed on all corresponding receipts issued. Once ‘hotlisting’ is complete a cheque refund will be issued for the unused journeys at the Smartlink journey price. An administration fee of 20% of the value remaining on the card will be deducted. The initial cost of the Smartlink Card will NOT be refunded.
20. Refund claims for less than £1.50 will NOT be accepted. Cash refunds are not available.
21. Refunds on Smartlink Cards presented for refund after the expiry date will be permitted only in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the company.
